Don't know if I mentioned it during our first face to face chat but I have Tony Thomson shafts fitted to my +2. I can bring it over to your workshop if you want to have a look at them.

I am reminded of one of Rohan?s posts where he highlighted the weakness of pre 1970 diff output shafts. http://www.lotuselan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13803
I went through an analysis of CVJ/UJ shafts a little while ago, and the general opinion of the forum was 70/30 in favour of CVJ. As I run a 1972 Sprint I took it that there was no issue with diff output shafts and opted for the Mick Miller CVJ shafts.
Had I a pre 1970 Elan I would have opted for the Dave Bean shafts that come complete with uprated diff output shafts.
Your question was specific in asking which is the best CVJ to go for. In my own analysis I thought the best was the Dave Bean shafts, but could not justify the cost ? therefore, Mick Miller was my choice.

As to my own analysis I'd tend to agree with Brian Clark, and am saving up for the spring upgrade of the Mick/Sue Miller driveshafts..

chuckle chuckle.. Sorry Ian, I'm talking about my Spring Upgrades, i.e. upgrades I'm planning to to this spring.... Sorry about the misunderstanding. I'm probably going down the Sue Miller CV-conversion route. Seems a good idea not to have 4 rubber rings to worry about anymore....

Hi,
I've a +2 130/5 1973 and bought it with donuts still fitted.
Handling was slightly 'edgy' i.e. you had to keep the power pretty constant throughout a bend or it would lift slightly & change direction slightly, but I perserved!!!!!
Anyway 6 months + 3k miles later it failed the MOT so I replaced them with the Sue / Mick Miller CV's 2 weeks ago- this is the BEST ?450 approx i have spent- the transformation is superb. The car stays really flat, you can really cock a corner up & it's still fine + still keep the really smooth soft transmission that I thought would be lost. Thoroughly recommend them + service very good / quick.
ps I've no connection to them, just a very happy customer.
