How to mount an exhaust system with a Lotus 5 speed box

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Tue Sep 05, 2017 6:11 pm

So, with the 4 speed piece (pictured) having gone away with the installation of the Lotus 5 speed box,
what's the recommended way to mount the pipe at that point?

On the 5 speed +2 it simple, there no bracket. The center pipe just fits between Y and back box. There is also very little clearance between center pipe and gearbox, care is needed when fitting to get any clearance at all.

Thanks much! Less fab'ing and sourcing of parts, so I can move on. You're right, the clearance between the gearbox case and pipe is pretty tight.

The ultimate implementation of "Simplify and add lightness"....

I keep pondering if it would be a good idea to trim some of the cooling fins on the bottom of the case. As think they probably acting more as heating fins with how close the exhaust is.

I had to apply a little heat and stick a fork leg stanchion in it to "set" the pipes away from the gearbox.
