Hi Folks
In the +2 with the 4 speed gear box there is a rear exhaust bracket. I have attached a picture of it taken from another post on the subject of exhausts.
If anybody has this bracket off at the moment could they photo it , or scan it against a background of squared paper with a known grid so that I can scale from the picture to make one up.
thanks in advance for any help
cheers
Bob

Hi Brian
Just though I would update this post. By scaling from the drawing provided I made up a bracket for my exhaust. The gear box is the 4 speed Ford "2000E" style. Made it from 1.6mm stainless steel and it fitted a treat. when fitting you have to drain the gearbox oil at least for the lower bolt. I did not need the bushes to line the holes.
I have scanned my bracket over a piece of squared paper in case it is useful to anyone else
edges on the major dimensions are around 6mm ( 1/4") and bent towards the rear of the car as scanned.
Cheers and thanks

Hi
I have attached a picture from earlier in my build B 4 the bracket was fixed. The two lower bolts in the picture in the web of the chassis ( Spyder chassis) are the ones my bracket fixes to. The gear box is different on the 5 speed but a similar set up must exist where the tails shaft fixes to the gear box.
The purpose is to take the weight strain of the rest of the exhaust off the manifold. Suspect the bracket would be similar in idea but not exactly as the one I have made up.
Hope this helps
Best of Luck
Bob

I too was unaware of this bracket as it was missing when I got the car. I wondered why my exhaust manifolds kept fracturing, 3 failures in four years.. I was eventually put right and fitted the bracket - no more fractures in 6 years. I think the bracket prevents the pipe flexing between the engine and the rear fixing and generating fatigue fractures in the manifold.
I presume (!) that there must be something similar for the 5 speed..

Fit on the +2 is the same as the +2.
