Exhaust gaskets

I thought someone had asked this ? before but can't find it in the archives.
Which way does the exhaust gasket go, metal plate side to the engine or headers?

I remember the topic but not a lot else about who or when so I searched for
exhaust gasket
on the forum and a few other iterations that I thought might work but in the end I went to google and did a search for

Thanks Gary that's what I was looking for. Glad to know that you had problems finding it on the group site also, I knew it was there somewhere.
