Is anyone offering a good cartridge replacement water pump kit? Bean doesn't have one.

I have a kit from Burton Power in the UK.

http://www.burtonpower.com

IIRC it requires a new front cover, back plate, the pump cartridge, and some fasteners and gaskets. They call it a modular water pump for the Lotus Twin Cam. Best to email them to make sure you get all the required parts, fasteners, gaskets etc. I ordered an extra pump module in case needed or they change the design, but I have not required it. The cover plates come in two sizes for regular and tall block builds without a spacer.

The listing of all the required parts is shown on page 65 of their current catalog. To get to an image of page 65, open one of the items in the search link below, go to the additional information tab, and there is a link to the correct catalog page. I have attached a screenshot to show the catalog page information.

The engine builder installed the stuff, so no direct experience there. Everything works fine, but can’t speak to any installation difficulties.

Unfortunately it appears the stock 1500 block cover plates and back plates are on back order right now. I have found Burton to be pretty knowledgeable and responsive with either phone or email inquiries regarding timing, what to order, etc.

I installed the Burton kit.
Once installed, it has worked for a number of years without any problems whatsoever. There is quite a bit written here about installation problems, so I’d advise a search and some reading time.
From memory of my experience:
The kit is comprehensive, containing all the correct fittings, components and seals.
Do a trial build of the components, including temporarily fitting the cylinder head and tensioning the timing chain (see below about the front cover).
The backplate supplied required replacement as it was distorted
The front timing case cover casting was inaccurate and required fettling to clear the timing chain when correctly tensioned (casting core for the coolant passage was misaligned).
The oil dipstick tube fits at a different angle compared to the original, so the dipstick requires minor re-calibration.
A cartridge retaining caphead fouled the v drive pulley and required caphead to be chamfered to fit.
Burtons were not terribly helpful in getting a replacement backplate and their attitude to the poor casting of the front plate.

As stated, once installed, problem free in service.

All
Never experienced a problem with the original Lotus pump although have changed it when carrying out major work ie rebore etc. Never had to change the pump because of the pump giving trouble.
Fit correctly don't over tighten the drive belt.
