Temp Gauge Undereading , Is there a cheap temp alternative?

PostPost by: rgh0 » Mon Aug 04, 2014 11:56 am

About 1 degree C outside tonight.

Yes I had the same a year ago - the first replacement dual gauge I bought off Ebay was cheap and supposed to fit an Elan but when it came it had the male 3/8 BSP fitting for an MG / Triumph. I will get around to reselling it one day!

cheers

Sounds like you are getting on Terry. Quick note to mention supply is typically 10v from the stabilizer for both the fuel and temperature gauges in the Plus 2. Don't know the situation in the Elan.

No voltage stabiliser for temp control in the ?lan - it uses the ether capillary tube.

I'll put one on the list!
Probably a solid state one would be better.

Thanks

I am pleased with the look but also to get rid of the dual gauge. I do have a problem with MG type dual gauges but that's another story.

You can easily fix the gauges. Costs about $15 or 10 pounds if you live over the pond. Just go to a local auto parts store. Buy a cheapie gauge. Replace the bulb. I have instructions on the LOONY site. But be careful, ether is very flammable. Dangerous stuff. And I apologize if this has been mentioned somewhere else. I did not read every post.
