clutch slave/heat shield

PostPost by: rdssdi » Sun Oct 12, 2008 9:05 pm

Has anyone added a heat shield to the clutch slave cylinder?

I am running headers and would like to add a heat shield as part of my winter projects.

I have fitted one to my S4. I just used some aluminium sheet cut and bent to fit. It is secured via the gearbox bolts for the dust shield.

I used the same method as steve but I started with a template made from cardboard first, then cut out the ali. Again fixed as steve's.

Bob,

I attached a piece of 1/2" X1/2" angle aluminum to the two dust cover bolts on the bottom of the bell housing running it to the left. I think I had to bend it up slightly. It went above the headers. Then I bolted a piece of aluminum sheet to the end of the angle aluminum which "spoons" the slave, isolating it from the headers. I remember I had to pull the sheet around the slave and bend it to form a shield as I went. Hope this helps.
