Viscous clutch fan

a Volvo red block fan seems to fit, it pulls more air too.
i drive at speed all the time, but...
and i haven't upgraded the electrical yet, and i suppose the viscous might look cleaner. Also, I don't care for front mounted pusher fans as they block too much airflow?

I would avoid hanging any kind of mechanical fan off the front of the water pump. With no fan and a properly adjusted fan belt (not too tight) water pump bearings can lead a decently long life. With a heavy viscous fan I believe you would be shortening the life of the notoriously undersized pump bearings.

I have a 2 bladed fan, as I heard that you should have some load on the pulley to keep the bearing from skipping.

Hello Fred,
I think that's a reasonable concern, but I think the belt tension provides enough load on the WP bearing to prevent ball/roller skid. If the bearing was skidding, it would fail in a matter of days/weeks.
