clutch release bearing - failing after 1000miles

just finished the ol "in?n?out" 2and a half out 2 in! ..not too bad fer a 60year old boy ----- HOWEVER: the question
would have to be: I did hear the bearing hitting (almost petting) the pressure plate every once in a while, which led to a light hissing (almost like a hydraulic valve openng and closing) about once every 3 - 5 min.; especially in 3rd and 4th - on my way to work on monday (no rain) it got more than obvious - in and out. the only audible difference is: THIS TIME i hear nothing at all and the other one was very lightly audible - does somebody produce these in a questionable quality (china or someplace?) - this new one feels the same and looksthe same. if you
could fillme in i?d be grateful - sandy with my "back on the road" 36 4982

The last couple of spare thrust bearings I got came in a no-name plastic pack just labelled with the bearing size and with no manufacturer marking or size stamped on the bearing . Previously my spares for many years had come in a FKC brand ( Japanese) box and have been stamped with FKC and the size on the bearing. I have not had to fit these new ones yet but potentially the only supplier now is a no name Chinese or Indian supplier and the quality may be questionable. Even if the bearing is touching the pressure plate thrust face and running continually it should not fail in 1000km's.
I have got my bearings through the local SKF supplier and if they cant supply SKF bearings they normally make sure they source a reputable brand so I was a little surprised when this is what they supplied last time

thanks rohan - was hoping to get more info regarding a possible supplier. the other part of your reply is a carbon copy (remember?) of my current experience: plastic bag (not even a zip lock), no label, no part number on the housing etc...... isn't it awful if you your forced to have FAITH in something you can't change?? or can we?? i'll go thru one of my bearing bibles and see what could be adapted to our needs. sandy 36 /4982

Marion brake and clutch here in Sydney have a good supply of FKCs, for which they charge the princely sum of $A7 each
