Elan S4 FHC Body to Frame Fit Possible Solution

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and solutions, particularly Elanman 999, who pointed out that I was trying to make adjustments in the wrong direction! In my defence, I was under the car upside down and facing the wrong way, but mainly I was in a state of panick.
I have ordered and received a small hand held belt sander (also called a power file) a Sealey SBS260, with this I have sanded away some material from the body where it joins the chassis at the top of the rear suspension towers On refitting the body, I still needed to remove more material, which I have done today but not had time to put the body back on.
I have stopped panicking, I think I have the problem fixed.
Thanks again,
Richard Hawkins
