S1/S2 Windscreen frame

Part of my restoration project included the removal and clean up of the windscreen frame with new glass,
rubber, etc. etc.
But I can't figure out how to install the rubber seal(got it from Dave Bean) in the photo I've included here. It is supposed to fit between the frame and body but can one of you who have blazed this trail before me describe the install procedure? Is it stretched around the windscreen frame and bolt holes cut into the rubber? Or is it the other way around, and fit to the body with adhesive first, etc.?

I'm surprised there is no response here. Has no-one here ever replaced the windscreen-body seal?

Full disclosure, it's been a long time since I replaced my windshield and installed a new rubber seal between the frame and body.
But as I remember it, I installed the seal by cutting slots for the bolt holes then used weatherstrip adhesive to glue it to the body. After it set and I trail fitted the windshield frame and trimmed the excess seal at the ends, I fit the frame with a bead of sealer between the seal and frame.
Hope that helps.

Hi, I also had the same dilemma years ago (before the forum) and I just pushed the seal between the body and screen without using any adhesive, I the made holes in the rubber to correspond with the bolt holes and fitted the screws. I then trimmed the ends and stuck the loose end to the frame, picture 1 shows my frame & seal but the car is undergoing a rebuild at the moment hence the loose screen frame.
I subsequently acquired some pictures of how the seal is supposed to be finished off as seen in pictures 2,3 & 4 although I cant remember where I got the pictures I was assured it was correct.

Hi Brian,
In your pics 2,3 & 4, it looks as though the rubber seal is actually fit underneath the windscreen
rubber. Is this correct?

That looks a really neat job Brian and that extra bit on each side should prevent some water leaking into the car.
I had the seal and didn't fit during my rebuild it as it affected the fit if I remember correctly so I just went with the Black silicon bead around the base of the rubber that actually came out really nice.
Looking at your pictures, you have fitted the triangular shaped ally bits but no seal ...I have these ally bits and still haven't fitted them ..does any one have a picture of these fitted with the seal ??

TurbineHeli / Gino,
I can not take credit for the pictures of the blue car as its not my car, as I said I acquired pics 2, 3 & 4 ....I think I took them at a car show but do remember being told the fittings were correct for the car.
As regards the seal being under the screen rubber, I did not fit mine under the screen rubber, the seal "flap" just laid along the bottom edge of the screen rubber and I think the blue car is the same as I dont think the "flap" is wide enough to fit under the screen rubber by any substantial amount.

Gino,
I found another picture of the blue car showing the triangle plate with a seal fitted .......not the best pic but may help.
TurbineHeli,
Also some more of my car (white) showing how I originally finished it off but during the current rebuild it will be finished as the blue car.

Hi Brian, Urs..
Thanks for the other pictures.
I've noticed that the beading running downwards between the door and body is common to prevent water coming in.
I've now seen the seal under the ally triangular bits and also how to fit the door arm rest things that I have not fitted yet.
I don't think I have the slots for the ashtrays though, and I'm missing the handles.
Did they make different door arm rest panels ?
Do you know where I can get some original handles from ?
URS ...get in touch I can come up to Bellinzona anytime although let 's wait for warmer weather.
