They are bolts and washers, Sue Millers catalogue describes them as Window frame to interior of door bolt @ 25P

I would not jump to quickly to that conclusion. There is no such thing as a modification - just factory approved variations ( when they ran out of the intended part ) or after factory variations which every Elan has some of by now I think ( even if it is only the air in the tires)

Same slotted screw on the S3 and S4, neither car having been restored.
You have the SuperSprint modification, Alan...a very rare enhancement.
