Fitting new windscreen frame

Hi all,
I'm in the process of fitting a new windscreen frame on my S2 body and have no reference to whether there is a proper seal between the frame and the body in the lower part where the frame sits into the bodywork.
Also, are there screws to fit around the bottom frame contour or is it just held in place by the two lateral screws on each side ?
I've looked at some of the past threads and exploded drawings in manuals but it doesn't seem to mention it.
Anticipated thanks for any help and advice for the assembly.

Hi Gino
I took a couple of pictures (see links below and the discriptions)
There are (8) 3/4 inch long by 1/4 x 20 bolts along the bottom, (the manual states 6 but I count 8 ) along with (16) 1/4 inch flat washers and (8) 1/4 x 20 nyloc's, the nyloc's are installed from the underside of the body under the bottom of the screen frame. There are also (2) 1 inch long #10 slotted pan head screws (one on ether side of the tensioning rod) with a number 10 spring nut on each. The sides have 1/4 inch screws too, see topic below for more info.

I put the photos on photobucket, they are big and they may not be all that helpful. I am not going to post them here as they screw up the width of the topic.
Screen frame mounted with the bottom attachmet bolts installed FROM THE WRONG DIRECTION so that I could just temperarily fit the screen into the wreck to check alingment.

Filler strip gasket ends terminated close up.

Pretty much the same picture as above but a bit further away.

The (2) 1 inch long # 10 slotted flat head pan screws to support the ends of the screen frame and the tension rod.

I hope this helps you some, if not ask again and I'll try to be clearer.

Gino,
There is a "special" seal between the body and the frame, it has a "T" type profile although the T is leaning over to one side (hope you understand what I am trying to say)
Here is a couple of pics of mine fitted and from memory I got it from Chris Neil or Paul Matty but its so long ago my memory is a bit faded.

Thanks Brian,
I'll give PM a call and see if I can get some seal, screws and the tie rod although this will be a racecar and haven't seen any fitted as such.
Is the tie rod necessary or is it just to fit the rear view mirror ??
Gino

Hi Gino
A couple more photos of the filler strip that goes between the screen frame and body shell. I guess none of its necessacy for a racecar, the screen and frame are not even needed in the U.S. for most forms of racing, what do the rules state. My gut feeling is if there is a screen frame and windscreen then you need the tension rod to hold it in there otherwise you will likely have it in your face at the worst time.

Gino,
As far as I am aware the mirror does not fit on the tension rod on the S1/2 it is screwed to the w/s frame, well mine does although the mirror is not original.
I'm not sure if you would need the screen tension rod for racing, with a soft top on the internal pressure at speed bells out the soft top and would probably pop the screen out without the rod but with racing its unlikely you would have a soft top on, anyway I know I would feel happier with the tension rod in place.

Thanks Gary for the precious pic of the true seal to source.
I think you are right Brian regarding the tie rod on a racing car; i've never seen one fitted too!
The hard top pressing against the top ,of what seems a very flimsy frame, will probably avoid the screen from bulging through.
Now to source the bits..........
Thanks
Gino
