Have been asked to help with this !
Firstly, can it go on a 75kg rated roofrack?
Approx 250 mile travel.
I suspect NO !!
If no. then any suggestions for couriers ............
South Coast up to Cambridge area ?
Regards and thanks,
Stuart.

I've transported an Elan chassis on an ordinary pair of roof bars with no problems at all. To maximise stability, keep the bars as far apart as possible so the forked parts of the chassis sit on the bars, then tie it down hard with ratchet straps.
I don't have exact figures to hand but I would guess a baby Elan chassis weighs around 50-60kg, perhaps 5kg more for a +2.
I don't see that the distance is an issue - if it's safe to go round the corner it should be fine to go long distance, just keep the speed down or your fuel consumption will be hideous!
Good luck

Technical info I have seen shows a +2 chassis weights around 94lbs ... or about 43KG.

I picked up a Spyder chassis from Peterborough and got it home safely to the Wirral on the roof of a VW Polo - I don't think I even had a roof rack! I remember the journey well although it was in 1985 - the exhaust box on the Polo fell off somewhere in the wilds of Lincolnshire but got it replaced and picked up the chassis .
So no excuses for your mission!
