1966 Lotus Elan S2 - Windshield not fitting in frame

Looking for advice on how to install a new windshield into the frame of my 1966 Elan S2.. My body shop person is telling me that the contour is not the same. The windshield is the only one available and was made in England for the S2. I have the proper seal and locking strip. Please let me know if you have successfully installed one. Any advice that would be helpful. Thank you so much!

Who is the supplier?...and who is the manufacturer?
Have you talked to whoever supplied it about the problem?
If the contour does not seem correct I would ask for it to be exchanged or at least somehow compare it with another one from the same source to check if there is a difference.
Alan.

Are you sure of your supplied windscreen? Are you sure the screen is not for a S3 or S4? I don't believe they are interchangeable..
But that said, we had a terrible time installing the screen that had been in my coupe for most of it's life in 2021 after a complete strip and repaint and using new rubber . We could not get the old metal corner trims into the corners of the rubber.

Thank you for you responses. The windscreen was made by Pilkington in England and it is definately for the S2. I will search for the posts from last year. I'm interested to know how the frame was adjusted to accommodate the glass. I'm in Los Angeles and looking for glass installers who have Lotus Elan S2 experience.

I fitted the original windscreen back into my S4 so I know it's the right one but you would think it wasn't with all the trouble I had getting it in. It really did look like it wouldn't fit until the last bit popped in. Can you get someone to help you hold it in the aperture without the seal to see if the curvature looks right?

The gents I would trust to fit a windscreen are in Rancho Cucamonga, Frank Monise Motors. They have been working on Lotus since the early '60's.

While on the subject, years ago Gary Anderson warned us that in USA anyone wanting a windscreen for a S2 should order one for a S1, because the S2 screen sold in American only fitted the coupe (FHC). That isn't applicable in this instance unless the same confusion has now reached Europe.

I should have said the S2 DHC (roadster) screen was the same as the S1. I assume the S2 and S3 FHC (coupes) shared a screen type and only differed in internal trim (and badges). What the S3 DHC uses I have no idea.
