Cassis number

I guess it depends on what model Elan you have, My +2 has the number stamped on the Exhaust side on the top rail behind the engine mount and on my S4/Sprint it's on the Exhaust manifold side but in front of the engine mount (not 100% on the s4/sprint without checking). I understand the early 2 seaters had the number on the Inlet side.
If you do a search there are a few threads documenting it...... lotus-chassis-f36/where-the-chassis-number-stamped-elan-1600-t26938.html
I couldn't tell you if replacement Lotus Chassis have a number stamped?? i was told they do but never seen one in bare steel to have a look.

LR910 is definitely a Lotus Replacement chassis. It would have been supplied in the 1980s at that serial number. Galvanised chassis were available from the factory on request from 1982.

Chris,
I bought my LR (Lotus Replacement) chassis in 1979 it was not galvanised, and was panted black. Shortly afterwards, Lotus started selling galvanised chassis.
