SPYDER Chassis with unusual anti roll bar

Does any one recognise this chassis which has had an elaborate ARB added by welding a tube accross the chassis containing a torsion bar with splined ends running in bronze bushes, the arms going forward are cut from solid alluminium and the adjustable ends are connected to the wisbones via rose joints. The whole thing is very well made but has never been used. A mystery. Any ideas. ?

Interesting!

It is a similar technique to what was on two (or 3) Lotus 6 cars that I saw at Malcolm Ricketts' open evening yesterday.

If its this chassis ( and it looks like it ) , The modification was done to mimic Dave Vegher's SCCA elan race car. Its reminiscent of a 911 set up that is flipped upside down . It was never installed in "target" elan, and from what i understand spent many years hanging from the ceiling .

hope this helps -

Yes thats the one, I have liberated it from hibernation in Wales and intend to use it in my FHC, will not be using the modified roll bar as it looks far to stiff for a road car and I think it needs special wishbones which I dont have,I just want to make sure I am not destroying a piece of history when I take my hacksaw to it, shoulld take about ten minutes to transform it to a standard chassis.except I will need to add the removable crossmember that Spyder should have. Will start a new thread to see if anyone has a picture of this piece.
