Engine mount to chassis bolts

PostPost by: bertavfc » Wed Jul 09, 2014 3:00 pm

Good afternoon, I'm just in the process of getting the last few bits together for the re-installation of the engine into my '69 +2. To my surprise the engine was only mounted to the chassis by one bolt per side so I'm looking for a couple of replacements, having measured the existing bolts they appear to be 11/32in (around 9mm) both these sizes seem near unobtainable, could anyone help me with a source for these?, many thanks in advance, Rob.

Its been a while since I last took those bolts out but I seem to remember that they're a fine thread as well - or is this another unofficial mod that a P.O. did?

I just did this last year with the newer motor mounts. The bolts are 7/16" UNF x 1" long. I use a full height nylock nut with flat washers on both sides.

When all else fails there is the Service Parts List, XUFS0614, or 3/8-24 X 7/8 long bolts. The 7/8" length is not common and I have always used 1" long bolts.

Looks like a PO has used something else as the threads are finer than UNF. The guy I bought it from was a Navy helicopter technician and for years I found odd fastenings all over the car. Looks like this may be the last of them

Many thanks for the replies, I had tried 7/16th but they were too big, I will go down the 3/8th route.
