S1 Hood (Top) frame and bits?

I just bought two projects, a S1 and S2 and have been sorting out boxes and boxes. Outside of the two fiberglass side frames can someone tell me how many steel rods are needed and what is holding the soft top to the front winshield? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Allan

Three rods needed, one slots into the side frames in the middle, a second hooks onto the side frames at the back & swivels up to tension the hood (held in place by a pop-on secured flap on the underside of the hood - though I velcro mine onto the roll bar as well) & the third slides into the pocket at the back of the hood & sits in the fittings bolted to the body just in front of the boot lid to secure the hood at the back.
At the front of the hood, the leading edge of the hood sits in the slot on the windscreen frame & the whole assembly is held in place by the pop-on type fastners on the side frames & tennax fastners on the body.
Unless somebody beats me to it I'll post some pics later today.

OK, I found your photobucket and the pictures located at http://s1231.photobucket.com/user/Mauld ... 3592229669
As for the rear stick (third) that slides into the vinyl to hold the back down, is the one you have original? I think I found that part, but it is curved on both ends and doesn't have those rubber (?) tips on the ends. Thanks Allan

Don't know why you can't see the pics as they appear fine here & on my daughter's laptop as well?
Re the rear bar, no, see the comment under the pic. Sounds like you have a correct original part.
I should have one of mine back either before or over the coming weekend & will post another pic (unless anybody else come post one in the meantime.

Excellent & don't panic if you can't find the other one.
The one shown in the pic is a newly produced "sample" for me to approve (I collected it only yesterday) & I have given the guy who made it a sheet of metal from which a number can be cut out.
A pattern from an original bar was kindly supplied by a member here, & as with all such projects, it doesn't cost a lot more to make 10 as compared to one. I will post in the "For Sale" section once I have an all in price, but they won't be very much. Shipping might be a problem however as it looks like a weapon, will take advice!
The bar will be unfinished mild steel, so can be surface treated, painted, chromed, left as is to "age" naturally, whatever you want.

Dave,
Famous Frank was after a rear bar a few months ago but I didn't feel like shipping three feet of rusty iron across the Atlantic so sent him a drawing instead. But if you get enough interest from over there you might ship a batch.
Allan,
The front of the hood is wrapped around a rubber strip to stiffen it where it inserts into the windscreen slot. Do a search for "Hoods Again" page 1 (restrict to "Body, Chassis...") which was a thread by Rod Little and includes pictures of it (some by myself) and other matters.
