Paint for Spyder chassis

PostPost by: tesprit » Mon Apr 29, 2013 12:14 pm

Does anyone know of a readily available paint in the US (like Rustoleum or Krylon) that has a color match for the orange/red of the Spyder chassis? I'm just looking to touch up a few chips and scratches on mine.

Has no one ever touched up the paint on their Spyder chassis?

My plus 2 spyder chassis now also needs some touch up painting after the engine bay fire - never needed it before in more than 20 years its been fitted so I would also be interested in a source of the paint and its colour

cheers

Dan,

I didn't scratch it! Just kidding, because It's possible I may have been the guilty party. Anyway, I also would like to know that color. Maybe an email to Spyder will tell us.

p.s still looking for more pics of your car.

Not sure whether it's available in the US, but I used Red Hammerite Smooth which was a good match.

My Spyder chassis is from the late 80's but unused, so may have been repainted since new.

Thanks, I'll check into the availability of Hammerite on this side of the pond.

Russ, photos are on their way!

Edit: I just found some Hammerite red smooth finish online and ordered it. I will report back the results after I give it a try.

I tried the red Hammerite today and unfortunately it does not match the color of my Spyder chassis. It is too red and does not have the orange tint needed for a good match. If I manage to find another paint that matches, I will be sure to post it here.
