Lotus Elan Chassis fabrication-who did it?

Does anyone know if Lotus were able to build their own chassis or if they bought them in?
It seems to me that most work was outsourced and parts bought in.

Thompson chassis made early ones I believe at Ettingshall Wolverhampton

I suppose it depends on when you are talking about, either at Cheshunt or Norfolk. I dont know about when they were at Cheshunt, but when they moved to Hethel, they made chassis' in house AND contracted them out to a firm in Norwich.
