Fitting new body to an old chassis

PostPost by: Higs » Wed Dec 02, 2009 11:05 pm

I have just bought a replacement body for my Plus 2. What is the best way to fit it - should I weld up all the mounting holes and redrill and retap them? Or what?

Is there anything else I should worry about?

Hi Higs, that is exactly what i did some years ago worked out ok. just remember when body correctly settled on chassis if you have gaps between body & fixing points do not tighten to close gap make up alloy spacers to fill gap. Also if engine in chassis you will find front upright fixings impossable to drill i bought a 90 deg drill attachment from B&Q for about 19 squid comes with 3 wood bits & fits into your own drill worked out well. Have fun Curly :D

Is this a "new" body or a "new secondhand" body?

If new where did you get it and what is the quality like?

Sidelined for the moment whilst I finish the Seven.

Will try to organise a run around Lough Derg over the Christmas Hols if You are free.

Don't have my car back yet. But am happy enough with progress.

I'm involved with a project this Christmas at Newgrange....on site :)

The timing of this work (or rather the proof of the work) is very dependent on weather (we need Sunrise) so I may be occuped with this.

But, would love to get to another run if I could!

Must drop down to see you and the family...and nearly as imprtantly....the 7 :D

Greetings to all,
Peter

Jon

The latter. Hopefully a better route than restoring mine. The body is just about ready for painting.
