Painting a galvanised LR chassis

can anybody advise what the done thing is with a lotus replacement chassis

do these normally require painting before fitting...??

doe it need some sort of special primerto go over the galvanising
if so what colour ..satin black??

Most people don't seem to paint the galvanised chassis
Older (weathered) galvanised finishes are easier to paint but new zinc needs a suitable primer which should be readily available. Check on the net for the latest techniques, IIRC it used to be a cadmium based primer.

The original chassis I have seen were red oxide and chassis black finish. And of course they were rusted through!

To key paint to fresh galvanising you normally need to do a dilute acid etching to prepare the surface for the paint to properly adhere.
