Refurbishing Upper Diff Chassis Mounts.

Way back in 1982 (Crikey, that's a while ago) when my elan S2 was being rebuilt, I found that many of the metalastic bushes were a bit sad, which included the upper Diff bushes, as you can see by the pics they were refurbished with lurethane polymer bushing material.
The old perished rubber was removed from the steel shells and new bushing halves were machined and inserted and held/glued with red loctite Silastic to enable assembly into the chassis. I'm happy to report that these same bushes are still doing their job some 26 years later.
The lower torque rod bushes received the same treatment and they are still like new, red PU40 lurethane is not affected by oil, so it won?t soften and perish like rubber based compounds.

Well... er, yes, I could do that if you want, but I would have to revisit material costs + machining time to give a quote.... not even sure what new replacement bushes are worth. We are busy fulfilling CV drive shaft orders at the moment, so could not give a delivery time frame for the bushes, would also need your old Diff mounts as part of the changeover.
Cheers.

PS.
If you have access to a lathe you could do the job in your own workshop.

What's this "lurethane polymer bushing material" and is it available in the U.K.? Does it come in blocks, rods, sheets or what? Your idea sounds good to me , I can get access to a lathe , so would be interested in trying this. More info please if you have it.
