Rear turret seat belt anchor

PostPost by: saildrive2001 » Tue Sep 18, 2007 7:04 pm

I had my chassis reinforced by welding a gusset plate on the rear side of the rear turret to lotocone mounting plate. This is well documented as a worthwhile mod. Now that I am starting to assemble the suspension I have found that the upper seat belt anchor plate that is bolted to the lotocone mounting plate interferes with the reinforcement gusset. The seat belt anchor plate is wider than the lotocone mtg. plate. Other than cutting the small flange off the rear of the seat belt plate I don't have any other simple solutions. Anyone out there had this problem & solved it?

Can you elongate the mounting holes and the larger hole that the lotocone passes through to off set the shoulder harness mounting bracket to make it fit? see photo below.

Hi Gary,
That's a thought but I think that the flange then will be too close to the bolt head to get any wrench or socket on it.

Maybe you can use a socket head cap screw instead of a cap screw. how much does it have to move to make it fit?

Using a socket headed cap screw is a good idea. The bracket would have to move forward at least 1/4" & without the body on the car I'm not sure that there is that much clearance between it & the body. I know you canj't add the gusset reinforcement on the front of the turret due to clearance issues with the body. Maybe if someone has an S4 they could check it out for me?
