New Dual Brake master Cylinder

Hello,

i need your help. On my Sprint Federal i have the Girling Dual Brake Master Cylinder LHD, bore 0.7" (17,8 mm).
It seems nobody sell a new reproduction. Tony Tompson and Classic Team lotus (Ex Paul matty) sell a similar type but for RHD only.

I am sure I have used the Triumph Spitfire dual circuit, sorry I can not find the number.
Born, and brought home from the hospital (no seat belt (wtf)) in a baby!
Find out where the limits are, and start from there

I've used a early spitfire on my +2, there also a shorter later one.

I suspect the brake line connections on the spitfire will be on the wrong side and tight to the inner arch. So might not fit.
'73 +2 130/5 RHD, now on the road and very slowly rolling though a "restoration"

Theres a early Datsun 11/16 dual master cylinder with bottom outlets that will fit in a LHD or RHD car

I am considering to buy any used master cylinder removed from the car and put in a corner. If it is not too much damaged, it is possible to machine inside than to insert a cylinder in still in order to obtain the identical bore.
i am able to do it.

There are a few others whom fit, they are all N American things like the 1969 Cortina GT Ford Corsair P/U.
If you are still stuck, I can turn on the old computer and find the file.

Physically looks exactly the same as Australian specification Mk 1 Escort with tandem circuit front drum brakes. Not sure about internal bore size - would have to check. LHD or RHD should make no difference - or is this assumption incorrect?
The same part described as being for a Ford is likely to be a lot cheaper and more readily available than one described as being for a Lotus!

People like Classicar Automotive can restore master cylinders so if you have the original, they should be able to help.
One day I'll actually finish - completely - one day....

LHD or RHD makes big difference on Elan! no space on left side for the pipes to connect to the cylinder. The master cylinder is very closed to the body.

I checked and Ford master cylinder is 0.75" bore so not suitable for Elan with 0.70" bore.

Hello Umberto,

This winter I converted my Elan S4 from RHD to LHD and kept the RHD twin master cylinder. It's quite tight but it fits.
