how to test lockheed boosters

PostPost by: rdssdi » Fri Apr 19, 2013 2:32 pm

I have two Lockheed remote servo brake boosters on my +2. I have heard that they are prone to seizing. They have two pistons. How can I determine if they are free and the unit is operating properly?

The brake pedal appears harder than it should.

Thanks

Below is a page out of the Elan Workshop Manual.
If you need to disassemble the unit, here is a very useful link:

Thank you for the information.

I will test the boosters as described. I have purchased a rebuild kit. The supplier only had one kit. I will locate more if a problem is diagnosed.

Thanks.

Bob,
if all else fails try this guy. He did my Sunbeam and it came out great. He is well known for his re-builds.
He is located back east and north...........
