elan vs +2 disc size

Hello
I seem to have a set of elan disc's, suppose they will not work on my +2
I read they are about 1/2inch small in diameter. So they would be very close. But I am not sure.
Anyone fitted elan discs on a +2
thanks

If you're talking rear discs then the Elan & +2 have the same discs. If it's front discs, then there would be problems. The larger discs have the calipers mounted further away from the axle centre and the pads almost to the tops of the discs, so it's not just a case of a larger disc.
If you fit a smaller disc size then they'll certainly work but you'll have slightly less friction area and as the pads wear I wouldn't be surprised if they formed a lip over the top of the disc. You'd have to run the pads down quite badly for such a lip to touch over the disc, but if you did manage it, there's no brakes !
The biggest no-no would be insurance. You're modifying the braking system to an inferior specification from OEM and I doubt the insurers would go with that one.
