Parking brake cable LHD and RHD

PostPost by: gearbox » Thu Dec 06, 2012 11:32 pm

Does anyone know if there is a difference in length or anything else between a Parking brake cable for a LHD and a RHD Elan? I'm ordering one from Sue and she only has one type and was unsure if there would be a difference. thanks Allan

There are two types of handbrake cable- one to suit each type of handbrake handle, they have a different shape of nipple at the handle end; one is shaped like a pear and the more common type is like a barrel. Depends if you have a twist handle or the straight-pull type.
I don't know if the UK issue regarding cable length has been resolved now, all the ones sold in the UK were too long by about an inch a couple of years ago. I sent one back to Susan and one back to Matty; possibly they have sorted it out by now (they both looked identical and I assume they were from the same supplier).
