Brake caliper refurbishment

PostPost by: Jon.ford » Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:39 pm

Just put my sprint back on the road sadly it's not had much use. The brakes are not as good as they used to be, I think the calipers could do with a going over phoned classic car automotive earlier no answer are they still trading? If not who is now recommended. Thanks Jon

Not sure where you are in the UK but I have used Pastparts in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

I am pretty sure Classicar are still up and running. Not been for about 3 months but would think so. Maybe they have taken a holiday?

It may be cheaper to replace the fronts. I made the mistake of having all 4 corners rebuilt. It would have been cheaper to buy the fronts.

Good luck.

My impression is that the guys at Claasicar are a small, busy company.
They are engineers first and although they don't mean it answering the phone doesn't seem to be thier highest priority.

They did a great job on mine (no connection etc).

Just keep trying their phone, it's worth your patience!

I had all my brake calipers refurbished via Paul Matty Sportscars, these were the third set they did for me and you can judge from the picture. The costs were really competitive and the product is excellent. I have no commercial connection to Paul Matty but have used them for parts for 20 years and 6 Lotus/Ginetta restorations and have been completely satisfied.
