any help with brake light switch?

PostPost by: lotusdelta » Fri May 01, 2009 6:51 pm

Can anyone tell me where the switch might be that activates the brake lights?. I have turn signals, driving lights, and have current to the light assemblies. I have replaced all bulbs so I know that not it. Is there a pressure switch somewhere near the master cylinder perhaps?....any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
David

Hi

On my early +2 it is a pressure switch mounted into the 3 way split in the brake pipe. You can see it if you look through the right hand front wheel arch. It looks like the pic attached.

On the later +2 the mechanical switch is screwed into the rear of the pedal box and can be viewed from the engine bay.

Hope this helps

Jason

On my S4 it's a mechanical switch operated by the lever on the LH end of the pedal shaft inside the car. See pics.

Hi

Couple more pics for you:

Late pedal box arrow points to where the mechanical switch screws in.

Couple of pics through my wheelarch of my early +2 hydraulic switch.
