S4 brakes

PostPost by: triumphelan » Sun Nov 04, 2007 12:05 pm

I have owned this car for 10years and have never changed the pads or disc`s.Whenever I ckeck them there seems to be very little wear ,the brakes are good and the car stops in a straight line .
Do the pads or discs become age hardened ?
As there is no braking problem do I need to change anything [if it aint broke dont mend it]

Our cars are so light, the brakes aren't really stressed with street driving. Have you tried some panic stops to see how the car behaves? The pads can become glazed over time. Be sure to change out the brake fluid if using DOT 3 or 4.

I have had my car for 20 years and never changed the pads. It gets occasional track use and the brakes still work great.

I change the fluid every 2 years though, it absorbs moisture from the air and your brakes can corrode from the inside if not changed. It is really important for the life of the system.
