Update....
I don't seem to be winning with this at the moment....
I fitted the Sue Miller shortened handbrake cable and with the adjustment right in it's too short. my guess is the cable is supposed to be used with the version of the tree with the swivel on the end like below
But of course i have the standard Elan version so with everything adjusted in my tree lever is 2" away from the chassis tube (which ironically is the amount it's been reduced by) so when i set it up with this cable the wheels are locking at the same time the Tree lever hits the diff....
The strange thing is my stock cable was fully adjusted out at the engine mount but was still 1/4" off the chassis tube, hence the reason i got the shorter one.
Just to add insult to injury...... The Elan is at work, we have a 3/4 mile drive way to our work shop (ex Farm) so get right to the end of the drive and the coil fails thanks to a faulty ballast resistor.......So i walk back and get some tools etc to get it running and driving back the new Servo fails so no brakes and of course no Handbrake (not the most pleasant experience but luckily enough i was only doing 10 mph) so this morning has not gone very well at all.....
