Pretty sure that they are identical, but as you say, you have to remove the brackets.
I do have other bits and pieces for the handbrake, also sourced from other Plus 2 cars, so any issues, do let me know.

In this case, the switch completes the hot wire to the light.. the other side of the lamp is grounded. If there were a ground tab on the switch it'd result in a short circuit. Conversely, the wire to the switch may be the ground wire completing the circuit to the lamp and the other side of the lamp goes to +12v
