Brake Servo Removal +2S130/5

If your servo is scrap anyway, why not remove it and TRY it without one, probably on your own on a quiet stretch of road...
Then you'll KNOW if you need one or not.
Mine has a Lockheed one with poor pedal feel (easy to lock the front wheels, espcially in the wet), but I have at least fixed the common sticking-on problem using an extra spring as detailed elsewhere on this forum. My next step is to replace the rubber hoses with braided steel ones to try to improve things. I wish they could be like my unassisted Elan S4 brakes though...

The sticking problem can also be caused by much in the hole that the plunger fits into, which is what i learnt from the guys in Cheshire. On that subject though, can anyone tell me where I have put the spring that I haven't fitted yet?

Andrew, from memory I think it goes under the air valve that contacts the 'plunger' you mention. It helps the plunger return to it's original position i.e. cuts off the servo assistance when the pedal is released.
I tried cleaning & lubricating the plunger with brake fluid but it did not get rid of the problem. I didn't 'risk' the other 'fix' which is to remove one of the two O-rings - I imagine it's there for a good reason...

I know where it goes and someone off here helpfully gave me one, I have just put it somewhere safe. Was a tongue in cheek comment hence the embarrassed smiley at the end of the post.
