Elan S4 brake bleeding

PostPost by: Soonteo » Wed Nov 03, 2021 11:42 pm

I’m planning to bleed the brakes but, am not sure which is the correct brake fluid reservoir. Appreciate anyone’s advice. Attached photo shows two reservoirs in the engine bay.

Thank you

The large one is the brake reservoir. Confusingly, the reservoirs are the opposite way around from the pedals. I read somewhere: For right hand drive cars, at least, this allowed room for a larger brake reservoir which otherwise would foul the wing. For left hand drive cars this crossover was maintained. Go figure.

Thanks Nick.

What then is the function of the smaller reservoir?

I would be interested to know the length of the push rod actuating the piston in the double circuit master cylinder (original) in engagement with the brake pedal on S4 Sprint.
