Good brake pads

PostPost by: webbslinger » Wed Feb 03, 2021 7:44 pm

After reading a recent post that menitoned Mintex 1144's I ordered a set and have just returned from a run to bed them in and get a feel for them. This is a street car so my priority is to be able to get max from cold. These deliver. They are the first pads I've used that can lock the fronts from cold without excessive pressure, and they feel good. I've only got about 20 miles on them, so my impression could change, but these seem to be the pads I've been looking for.

Thanks for the positive news. Could I ask which model is this and are you using a servo?

And If I can add one more question, what are you running for rear pads?

Make sure you bed them in properly as the instructions with multiple stops from high speed, otherwise they can glaze. Properly bedded in they are fantastic pads, I have them on both my road going Elan and trackday Seven.

They're on a '69S4 coupe - dual circuit, no servo. The rear pads are Textar 20088's. It's good to hear that they hold up on track. Here's to lots of use this year.

I have Mintex 1144's fronts on my S3 DHC with no servo. I have tried various other makes and these are by far the best and I wouldn't fit anything else for road use.
In the UK you can get them from Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe who are knowledgeable and helpful.

Webbslinger, did you buy them from the UK, or were you able to find a US source?

Thanks,
John
