Girling Mk2B servo rebuild Question?

Hi all.
I'm in the process of rebuilding/Overhauling a Girling Mk2B servo for my Elan, although it is fairly straight forward i have hit a bit of a snag.
I got every thing spotless and assembled the Control Piston assembly and Valve assembly as per the Diagram i got with the rebuild kit with the correct seals in the correct orientation but when i came to the Output assembly i found i had the two large seals (output piston seal and diaphragm rod seal) and a third small seal. The problem is i don't know where the Third seal is meant to go?
So i have the problem that i don't know if the extra small seal is just an option for the High pressure control seal or i have missed some thing?

I have this picture which shows all the parts of my servo
I was just looking at it and noticed there seams to be a seal at the bottom of the anti-knock output piston assembly (diagram 28) that's assuming the Seals are black. I've just had a look at mine and if there is a seal there is must have died along time ago, but i don't see how the seal i have left would fit/do anything??
BTW, ^ hasn't been cleaned yet

I know exactly what your going through. I too am in the process of rebuilding my mark 2bs. First and foremost DO NOT remove the seal inside the out piston. They do not exist. Back in the days Girling rebuild kits included a new piston with seal installed. The kit you have does not have the correct seal as they are not made. I am told the small seal you and I have is an alternate seal for the control piston. I too thought this was the seal for the out piston but it is not. You must use the out piston as is replacing only the outside seal provided. Hopefully it will continue to work. Out pistons are very rare. Almost impossible to find NOS and if you do will cost you dearly. It seems the out piston seal is installed during construction of the piston and that is why no seals exist. If I can help you along just e mail me [email protected] Dave.
