Greg,
Those I bought from a local Lotus Club member (which I hope are correct!) have friction material 10mm thick.

Sorry I need to stop and read, 5mm is for the handbrake pads not the main rear pads. Rear pads will be much thicker, i have some EDC ones at home in my parts to fit pile. I can measure them later.

Greg,
Haven't got a new one but 10 mm material sounds right and the backing plate is 3/16" thick.
What's an S3 SS, an SE with the pre-Sprint high lift cam that Miles Wilkins talks about?

SS stands for Super Safety, the last 400 odd S3's were dubbed as such , here's one in the States http://www.tjimaging.com/lotus/AboutTheCar.htm, SE engines put out about 118-120 bhp, so those big valves and special cams don't do an awful lot on the Sprint and S130 engines do they?
Kindest regards

Ah yes, thanks Alan, the car that doesn't hurt your fingers if you hit the brakes too hard. St Wilkins has one of those Stromberg engines in his own Elan, currently awaiting restoration, which was measured to have Sprint pace. Strange that the 0-60 quoted in your link was "in the 9 second range".
