Brake light switch

Anyone know offhand the specs for the threads on the pressure switch which activates the brake lights (67 Elan S3) ? Looks like possibly 3/8 - 24 straight threads - I want to get the right switch before I take it apart. Thanks.

If it?s the fitting to the brass 4 branch with switch at 90 deg then thread is 1/8? NPT 27 TPI.

I replaced mine last May and needed a 5/8" thread switch which I got from CPA (Car Parts & Accessories) as a Cambiare VE 724024.

Bear in mind my car is a Type 26 and it may not be the original union.

The Service Parts List shows the switch (036 J 6017) as having a straight thread and sealed to the multiway union with a crush washer. It is in all probability 3/8-24, same as the tube nuts that secure the Bundy pipes. There is a remote possibility that it is 7/16-20. Before you take anything apart you should be able to see if the switch is sealed to the union with a crush washer, if so it will certainly be one of these two straight threads, most likely 3/8.
