Ed, I've never heard of Lockheed AR, but AP Lockheed are items that were sold through a licenced company "automotive products"

Hi Richard.
A. R. brakes came on 26 r cars .they are large racing calipers .my car 26r s2. 33 came so equipped And as they are 40 years old I would like to rebuild them . Lee racing sells the calipers for 800 bucks each but I can't find Pads or rebuild kits ....Ed

They are Girling AR calipers on the front and I think Girling NR calipers at the rear.
Hope that helps

Ed,
I'll run out to the shop later and get you part numbers. I don't think I have the hydraulic rebuild numbers down here, but I do have the pad numbers. I typically use "Power Pad" brand and stay with the softer ones. Since you run a lot at Mosport, you only need brakes once a lap, HA. So no time to get them up to working temp. Phil Harris, who used to own Truesports, steered me away from Performance Friction brand for race cars on narrow treaded tires because of their narrower friction band. The Power Pads are not as steep a curve and very predictable, but lots more stopping power than the old DS11. You will need to change your brake bias.
Do you have NR alloy calipers at the rear? I'm not sure this was common on 26Rs. I think a lot just used the standard iron caliper at the rear. The bolt pattern is different between iron caliper Elan rears and NR, so they are not a simple bolt on.
Roger

Apologies for highjacking the post but just realised what the car in the photograph in BGs attachement is.
It is the HWM-Jaguar built for and raced by the Australian 2nd WW flying ace Tony Gaze in the early 1950s. A few years ago I was helping a friends team at Spa and the owner of the car asked me to take it down to scrutineering. Only drove it in 1st and 2nd gear through the paddock, it barked when you blipped the throttle. still grinning remembering it.
