handbrake cable adjuster access????

PostPost by: Elanconvert » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:04 pm

okay - daft question, but my excuse is - I've only had the elan a few days....
is access to the handrake cable adjuster "by the r/h side engine mounting" a 'carbs off' job?
I have tried feeling through the oil and fuel pipes and plug leads, between the dizzy and coil, but a bit nervous about dislodging something vital........
can't even see it from above.......
thanks
fred

Definitely do it from underneath... But before you adjust the cable make sure the caliper adjusters are set correctly. Do a search on adjusting the handbrake & you will find instructions.

Aha.......now that's sneaky......I have read some of the info on handbrake adjustment.......mine pulls all the way up to the stop without any resistance!!!

so the first step was to fully slacken handbrake cable.. hence my question...
thanks for that .....up on the ramps tomorrow then!!
