Handbrake lever help

Hi
Can anyone help me with some dimensions please, I only have the lever for the handbrake as the outer sleeve is missing but I have found some thin gauge box section that I can use to fabricate an outer sleeve but I need to know the size and position of the bracket that fixes to the steering column, also the length of the sleeve and I note from picture in the B B's book that there is a bracket at the bottom that fixes to the bulkhead. Hopefully someone has one not fixed to there car that they can take the dimensions from. Any help would me most appreciated.
Cheers
Jerry

Hi Jerry
This may help but maybe not, it was originally formed from a flat sheet to stamp into the steel the catches for the ratchet paw and then folded and welded into the square shaped tube. good luck, I would modify a Cortina GT mk1 hand brake pull before I made one.

Assuming you're talking about an Elan as you refer to BB's book and not a +2 which may be different.....The handbrake assembly has only one bracket which fixes to the top of the footbox (not the steering column) at the lower end the circular section of the cable guide (Gary's 4th pic) is supported by a grommet where it passes through the bulkhead, no bracket.

Where are you situated?
I think it will be very difficult to do & be much easier to try & find one from one of the specialists (a used part).
