Brake pipe replacement.

How easy is it considered to replace all the brake pipes.
Mine, both solid and flexible are looking pretty tatty and I suspect the when I try to undo the chassis end of the flexible pipes it will be very difficult and/or will shear the fixed pipes off.
Can pre-prepared kits of the solid pipes be purchased or is it a case of buying the pipe and the right tools.

Hi Bill
I did my lotus 7 ( and am now doing the plus 2) and I bought the vehicle wiring products pipe flaring tool ref 5510 and Mafco 470-T500 copper nickel pipe. and fitments to suite . the copper Nickel does form very easily --not sure if the tool I use would do the steel pipes though but it seems fine with the copper and copper nickel. I kept the 3 piece and 4 piece connectors they cleaned up OK. For the flexibles uses a goodrich set. seven seems to be fine 3 years on. Just finished the brake lines on the rolling chassis. suspect your biggest problem will be the long one front to back was easy for me as the body was off.
hope this helps best of luck

Hi Bill
Brake pipes can be bought ready made from the usual sources but they're also easy enought to make yourself if you buy a simple flaring tool. However I don't think making them will be the problem, I would suspect that the biggest difficulty is going to be gaining access for fitting, especially if you're laied on your back with the car up on axel stands

Hmmm.
It may be that I would have to do the front & back ones, which can be got at, but stay with the original long one down the backbone. That is likely to have been oily most of the time anyway & not be tatty.
