S4 handbrake - disassembly

What a filthy job; taking all the calipers and discs off and stripping them down for replacement/refurbishment! Everything is now all stripped down and luckily all the pistons came out (eventually). One question: I want to have all the handbrake parts stripped and cad plated (to match the calipers) but I can't work out how to remove the two main handbrake parts from the calipers themselves. There are 2 small threaded holes and I presume whatever is threaded (it looks like a rivnut) must hold in the 'axles' for the handbrake parts. Any input will be appreciated.

Do you really need to take the levers off?
If you undo the adjuster screw completely and the two pad lifters, you should be able to get everything off except the levers.
In my opinion: When putting then back bend out the pad lifters slightly to ensure that they do lift the handbrake pads off the disc. They seem to be made of soft steel and as the pads wear they seem to get a permanent deflection, so you need to bemd them back to where they were originally.

There was a fair bit of discussion about this last summer including how to remove the pins that hold the handbrake bits in place and how to set up the bendable arms. Well worth tracking it down.

David, the pivot pins will most probably be worn. You really can't properly strip down the caliper body and handbrake components without removing the pivot pins. Note these are internally threaded to make it possible to use a puller.
If you are looking for new pins, SJ Sportscars in Devon UK sell new pins in stainless. They are pretty light so I guess shipping shouldn't be a problem (when flights return to normal). Otherwise Dave Bean might have them.
