Elan S4 Tandem (US) master cylinder question

This forum has been enormous help over the last 2 months or so but tonight I have my first problem without a solution, at least by my searching abilities. I bought a new tandem brake master cylinder from DB and fitted it all up. Bled the brakes and they seemed ok. Then went to double ckeck everything and fluid is leaking from the new m/c at the screw holding the reservoir. After a few minutes of *(&%(&^%*()^ I pulled it out and I think I will use the reservoir from the old m/c which is in good condition. Question is; how does the front connection where the reservoir fits into the m/c come out? On the new m/c it just pulled out and I then removed the circlip. However, on the old one I cannot get it to pull out and I dont want to use brute force on a 40 year old plastic part which might save my life.
Thanks

Take a look at Ray's online parts manual and make sure you have all the right seals.

I took mine apart last year and needed to it some force to remove the old reservoir, but just a question of pulling hard and twisting, came out fine and no problem resealing.

Thanks Dan. I do have all the seals (the reservoir came from Dave Bean as an exchange unit). I have tried force but there is a circlip around the front extension on the reservoir which has to pop out as the reservoir comes off the m/c. On the 'new' m/c I was able to get it out but on my old one it's not cooperating. I have a call in to Dave Bean and its probably easier just to send me another m/c but I don't like being defeated!

I don't remember a circlip, just 2 screws connecting the back section and the front section of the reservoir had a plastic tip that was push fit into the cylinder, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly. Does it look like the one that I sent the link for? If you post a picture, maybe it will jog my, or someone else's memory.

That is indeed the one but here should be a circlip. I spoke to Ken at Dave Bean and he is sending me a replacement reservoir (I was able to remove the reservoir from the new m/c). He confirmed it is a very difficult task to get the reservoirs off, if mounted with a circlip.
Thanks
