Brake Master Cylinder

As a matter of sheer interest - what is the difference, apart from the size of revervoir, between a 5/8" brake M/Cyl and the clutch M/Cyl?

Hi Brian

Apart from the reservoir there no difference, but you can?t use the clutch cylinder for braking as it doesn?t have enough fluid reserve.

Thanks Steve, I've no intension of using a clutch M/Cyl for the brakes, but I was surprised how much cheaper the clutch one is compared to the brake.

What is the consensus on where to buy a new brake and clurch master cylinder?? both mine were missing from the boxes of part that I bought.

Don't know for Lotus specifically, but my understanding is the clutch cylinders do not generally have a check valve arrangement that allows the pressure to be pumped up. At least that is what I recall from my Mini days.
