Brake Servo

PostPost by: Galwaylotus » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:40 pm

I know this topic has been discussed w/r to servo vs no servo but I want to know if I can leave the vacuum line off the servo (and plug the manifold). Will I still have brakes or do I need to do anything else? I know I'll need softer pads without the servo or develop a massive right leg muscle!! I'm just not happy with the servo as it has locked up on me a number of times - the last as soon as I started the engine after a number of months with no running. Please advise. Thanks.

You need vac for headlamps and need to bypass the servo brake pipe

Get one of those brass brake line T Like the one for the rear brakes and one brake bleeder to by pass the servo, then unbolt the servo and put it away for a much later day.

Thanks, guys. I looked again this evening and it seems there are two vacuum lines coming off the manifold. One goes to the brake servo (since removed) and the other to the vacuum system for the headlamps so I should be ok there. I was going to install a tandem master cylinder but I was told today that one won't fit on RHD cars. If I can find one with remote a reservoir I think it will fit as I can get a hand all around the singer master cylinder in the car. The search goes on . . .
