In September 1967 the tobacco company Gallaghers put together a competition with the then brand new +2 as a prize.
A few months later, the winner was presented with the car by Graham Hill.
Although it claims to be the 'first production' Elan, I suspect this to be 50/0011, which was invoiced on 1st Aug 67. 50/0001 was the famous LPW 120F, which did around one years worth of press work before being sold on.
