Speedo, Rev Counter warning light snoot/shroud

PostPost by: berni29 » Sat Jun 29, 2024 9:44 pm

Hi Guys

As per the thread title, the Rev and Speedo both have plastic inserts that stop light spill on the ignition, main beam and indicator lights that are in the instruments.

Does anyone know the official names for these inserts and where to get them please?

Mr Google was not much use in this.

All the best

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Hi

Thank you but sadly not. I did see those on ebay when I was searching though. None of my rev counters or speedo's have that type.

Here is a picture of what I am looking for.

There are different types, there can be 0/1/2 metal connectors down the sides , pictured has 2.
May have some in the shed, how many connectors do you need?

P.S. there should also be a small piece of rubber tube on the " jewel" to connect to the end of the fitting..

Hello John

I am short of 4 in total, with 3 being required sooner rather than later.

If you have them how much would you require to part with them +postage?

By the way do you know the official name for these things?

Many thanks

Found some, the rubber pieces as I remember were all perished and stuck to the jewels, I also seem to remember some of the metal clips having extensions on to contact the body of the bulb holder , thereby earthing the bulbholder body...when used on the wrong bulb ( ignition warning ) can cause problems so later done away with in favour of proper wiring...

Have as below
light tubes1.jpg and

Three with metal pieces
Three metal pieces
Ten holders

Just make me an offer and they're yours

I recently refurbished my instruments, brought about by a failed speedometer (so I decided to clean up all the instruments).

The rubber bit at the end of my light tubes were all missing. I found some small rubber grommets to fit the end of the tube, that were a snug fit with the jewel and the tube. I held these on the tube with a small amount of flexible glue after positioning them correctly.

My instruments and in particular their lights are fanstastic now, much brighter than they were before fixing, also helped by replacing the bulbs with LED ones.
